I Love Being A Lindemann Lion!
Wow, what a great year! The 2015 / 2016 school year seemed to go by so quickly. Yet, we made such a powerful impact academically and socially for our students. As a staff, we continue to grow and learn together and support one another. Each day, I come to work with a smile on my face feeling lucky to be a part of such a positive experience for our students, parents and community. I work side by side with passionate individuals who help make dreams come true. Lindemann truly is a very special place!
I hope you and your families enjoy a safe, fun and relaxing summer break.
Mike D.

NWEA REPORTS – SEND HOME
Please plan to send the Student Progress Report from your NWEA Reports Menu home with students this week. We can not include extra paper in the report card envelope, so these reports should be sent home with students. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you in advance for providing this information to our families.
THINK CENTRAL ACCESS & MATH MATERIALS
Attached are the instructions for teachers to use Think Central (the new Math series) for the summer. These instructions will allow you “play” with the online software when you have time. The district version will be ready to go two weeks before school starts. STEPS TO CREATING AN EVALUATOR ACCOUNT
Last week, you received manipulative kits for the new math series. Please store these safely in your room for the summer. This week, you will receive the student and teacher materials. You will also receive a set of labels for the hardcover books. Please label each book with a number and label as you store them for the summer. A sample book will be put in the workroom so we can ensure that all books are labeled in the same way.

PRESS RELEASE:
Allen Park Public Schools is very pleased to announce a special project taking place at Lindemann Elementary, 9201 Carter, Allen Park, on THURSDAY JUNE 9th. The project is called Art for the Sky, and the premise of the project is that all of the students create a living painting with the help of artist Daniel Dancer.
Dancer has been creating Sky Art for over 30 years, all over the United States, Canada and in countries like Holland, Australia, and India to name a few. However, Lindemann Elementary will be the 1st MICHIGAN school to partake in this project This opportunity is made available to us through a grant fund by the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs and due to the extraordinary efforts of Rachel Trapani, APPS Art Teacher. We have nearly 700 students at Lindemann Elementary so our sky art painting will be quite large!
Below is a news clip about the Art for the Sky project at a Florida Elementary School

We would love for you to attend the living painting project on June 9 from 1:40-2:30 p.m. It’s always uplifting to see, read and hear about positive stories on the news, especially those that feature children!
Per the attached invitation/schedule, on June 8, students will attend an introductory assembly by grade level. Daniel Dancer will explain the history and science behind this type of art from the earth. Then they will will begin to grid out the design on the field in the afternoon. The design will be finalized during the morning of June 9, and weather permitting, children will begin assembling for the living painting at 1:40 p.m. (Rain out date is June 10 at 8:40 a.m.) Concluding assemblies are scheduled throughout the morning of June 10 and students will watch the Art for the Sky video and view the aerial photo of our image for the first time!
Below are a few pictures to give you an idea of what the aerial photo looks like. Lindemann Elementary will be focusing on the Kirtland Warbler, a bird from Michigan’s endangered species list, that was near exhibition before our state created protected areas in the northern counties to ensure its survival.
Or visit http://www.artforthesky.com/htm/skygallery.htm
or Art for the Sky on facebook to see the most recent projects.
Each dot of color is a student of that school. The color of their shirts correspond with the colors of the image in order to create the living painting.

Data Informed Accessibility
Making Optional Needs-based Decisions (DIAMOND) Project Educators interested in better addressing the universal tools, designated supports, and accommodations of students have an opportunity to participate in an educator survey conducted by the National Center on Educational Outcomes and nine states, including Michigan. The goal of the Data Informed Accessibility – Making Optional Needs-based Decisions (DIAMOND) project is to develop professional resources for educators to help them with making optimal decisions related to accessibility and accommodations in the classroom and on state assessments.
Please complete this survey by Friday, June 17, 2016. The survey includes approximately 24 questions (the number depends on specific item responses) and should take no more than 30 minutes to complete. The link is to the survey is:https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TP98X9S
The final question of the survey asks about your willingness to participate in future DIAMOND activities. If you are interested in participating in these activities please share your contact information. This information will not be connected to any project publications, as all project findings will be reported anonymously. If you have any questions about the project, please feel free to contact Dr. Vitaliy Shyyan via email at shyya001@ umn.edu or by phone at 612-624-8561.
